About the Event
Abstract: Pile installation by driving is commonly used in MTO bridge foundation construction. The presentation will include the basics of pile driving, common issues and resolution. The presentation will also include pile driving administration and inspection. The prospective audience are people who work or are interested on the foundation pile design, construction and construction administration.

- P.Eng. Foundations Engineer, MTO Standards and Contracts Branch, Structure Office, Foundations Section
- Over 20 yrs experience in Foundation/Geotechnical Engineering incl. Structure/Embankment, Tunnelling, Hydrogeology, and Rock Engineering
- Oversee foundation engineering site investigation, design and construction for MTO capital program and operation across the Province of Ontario
- Responsible for provincial policies, standards, and specifications
Moderator: William Van Ruyven
William is a structural engineer and project management professional with experience ranging from inspection, evaluation, planning, design, and construction administration for a variety of bridge, culvert, wall and sign support structure types. He currently serves as Gannett Fleming’s Toronto office Bridge Lead and Project Manager.
